#63

i was going to begin with a post about the absurb amount of japanese national holidays, but i was quickly distracted by the fact that this is my 63rd post in this blog within a period of about six months. if i could put together around 100 posts within the course of a year then id have pretty much written a book at this point. time flies...

but onto japanese national holidays...they are ridiculous in number. on monday it was "respect for the aged" day as a tribute to the elders of japan i guess. today its another national holiday...not sure what its called, maybe "ode to autumn" or something silly like that. last month it was ocean day as a national holiday. actually, today is the first national holiday outside of golden week in may that ive actually been able to have off from work. my day off is on a monday and almost all public holidays to this point have fallen on a monday. thankfully, the holidays from this point on fall on odd days like wednesday, saturday, and friday, so i can take advantage of them.

and to tell you the truth, i think the japanese deserve all of the holidays they can get. many of my students are working 6 days a week, overttime every day without fail, and do stupid hours like 12-15 hours a day. any break they can get i think is welcome.
